Choose your fonts and layout carefully, your business card impacts how the world will see your image.

Business cards are a lot more than just a way of exchanging phone numbers and address information, they also present the recipient with an immediate, hopefully positive and lasting visual impression of your company.  The typical business card is a 7 sq./in. billboard telling the world who you are, where you do business, and what you do.  It’s a major challenge fitting all that into such a confined space and still having it look good, but that is what a great business card does!
Take a critical look at your current card.  Is the information presented in a clear and concise way?  Is the information complete (does it have your email address, your web site, maybe the company Facebook page)?  Are the graphics compelling?  Is the font easily readable?  Is the card sturdy?  It is important that your card be unique, and memorable – but in a good way – so if the answer to any of those questions was “No”, you need a new card.
A well-designed business card will make an immediate, positive impression. So much so, that the recipient instantly makes a mental connection between it and the service or product you offer.  That way, the next time they are in need of that particular product or service, they remember your card and call you to acquire what they need.   So having a business card that “hits all the marks” is essential.

Getting the “PERFECT” Business Card

If you are one of those do-it-yourselfers, you could just design something yourself using software that came with your computer, then print it out using your inkjet onto that flimsy die-cut paper you can get at a stationery store.  I really don’t recommend this method.  Unless you have a graphic design background the results may be somewhat less-than-desirable, and even if you do a great job putting it all together, the flimsy paper and inkjet print will scream “unprofessional” to the recipient.

Or, you can go online and, using a generic template, create a business card for the website to print for you.  Chances are, it will have all the “essentials” we just discussed on the card, but the bottom line is that it will be just like a thousand other cards out there that were created with the same template…certainly not memorable.

I suggest, for something that is this important, you enlist the services of a professional…like the professional designers at Alphagraphics.  These people will take the time to talk with you, listening to your ideas, and then they will put their years of design experience to work for you to produce an advertising piece that really sets you apart from the crowd.
