It's like you're not really legit unless you have a website, and honestly I've made that judgement myself. If I'm looking for a new company/supplier and I can't find them online, or the site is out of date I get nervous and won't hire them. It's like 20 years ago if you went to a shop and the roof was caved in and the sign was hanging half-off - image is important the other thing I find is that like you said – even when business comes from referrals these days the first thing most people do is go online to research the company.
