So, a few years ago for Thanksgiving, my mom and stepdad were staying with us. My stepdad came out of the bathroom that morning and asked my oldest son to please tell him this tube he was holding was toothpaste.. Apparently without his glasses to see, he had squeezed some Desitin (diaper rash cream) onto his toothbrush. It was only when he tried to brush his teeth that he realized it wasn’t toothpaste! Our family has gotten a lot of laughs over this since then :))

One year at Thanksgiving, my brothers and I were invited to my sister Jenny’s house for the traditional feast.

Knowing how gullible my sister is, we decided to play a practical joke. My two brothers lured Jenny outside to check out some trees at the bottom of the garden.

As soon as Jenny left I took the turkey out of the oven, removed the stuffing, and replaced it with a Cornish Hen. Then I replaced the bird carefully in the oven.

Later, when the turkey was cooked my sister took the bird out of the oven and when it had rested she started to carve it. Then she decided to add the stuffing. Much to her amazement she found the hen. At this point our mother piped up, “Jenny you’ve cooked a pregnant bird!” With this Jenny started to cry.

It took my brothers and I until early evening to convince Jenny that turkeys lay eggs, and don’t give birth to live young.

Funniest Thanksgiving memory ended with a Yorkie tail deep inside the turkey left on the table.

My funniest memory was just a few years ago. I had just rebuilt an older camera a twin lens, and was anxious to use it, so after our Thanksgiving dinner and a horrible performance by the Dallas Cowboys, I decided to head out with my camera and give it a try. I headed out to the back end of my property in pitch black with a flashlight, a tripod and a camera. I was going to light paint this spooky tree at the back end of my property, again in the pitch black, all alone. I am set up and starting to shoot I keep hearing weird noises as one will do when all alone in the dark when all of a sudden I got goosed by my black lab he came up behind me poked me in the butt and being black I never saw him, I took off running and screaming like a little girl. I realized it was just my dog laughed about it, but did not return for the camera until the next day. I did have a spectacular shot of that tree and it is in my portfolio, I laugh about it every time I see it.

I love thanksgiving! As a child, while traveling to my grandparents house I would always sing random songs that I liked… I loved the song born free but unfortunately, I didn’t realize what the words were … So I proudly sang “corn tree, as free as the wind blows, as free as the grass grows….THAT’S MY CORN TREE” needless to say My family loves to remind me of my “free corn tree”! Happy Thanksgiving to all and safe travels!

As i get older i think about how lucky i was to have 2 Thanksgiving dinners. 1 with moms side and with dads. Now we are lucky if we get in one with the cousins and grandparents and new little ones. As each of the “kids” grow up and get married there is more separation each year. Makes me thankful for those memories.

Very nice story. I really do not have a funny Thanksgiving story, but I know that I love being with my family on Thanksgiving. We always gather at one of our family members house and everyone brings a dish. After we eat we all gather together to watch football (Dallas Cowboys). This year may be just a little different, because my Aunt is not your average hostess. She is very quiet and soft spoken, so I know her son will be the host because of his big personality. We will definitely be entertained by him. I like to wish the Alphagrahic family a Happy Thanksgiving.

When I was 4 I was helping my mom with the veggie tray for Thanksgiving. The story goes. Mom had just put about 4 black olives on the plate from the freshly opened can. The phone rings. Mom goes to answer it. She says she came back from about a ten minute conversation just to notice Randy still sitting at the counter with the 4 olives on the tray, however an empty olive can. Needless to say they always had to make sure we had plently of olives for me every Thanksgiving. Too this day I love the olives on the veggie tray but I would love to know my thinking of leaving the olives on the plate.
