As the new year starts, businesses are always looking for other ways to enhance their business. One thing people always look at is to update the business web page; is the content valid, when was the last time we updated it etc… With advancements in phone technology one of the new ways your customers can connect with you is through mobile web sites. I’m sure we’ve all looked at one website on your phone that you could barely read because it was just the businesses regular site; nothing was optimized for a phone. Using a generic non-mobile web page is by far the #1 mistake of advertising your business in the mobile environment.
One way to not make that mistake and a great way to advertise your business is with a mobile optimized web or landing page. Now I know what you might be saying…”Our website has too much info”, or “I don’t even know where to begin”. Luckily your mobile site does not have to be an exact recreation of your full website. However if you want it to be, it’s more about how it is viewed and less about what the content is. Ease of use is key to mobile sites so make sure that is one thing you think about while in the design phase; large buttons and easy “touch” navigation are critical to prompting action on the phone.
In conjunction with a mobile web site, you might want to use what is called a quick response code or QR Code. This little (usually black and white) grid of blocks can be scanned by your smart phone and give the end user some sort of information. Whether it’s your contact info, a link to a video, a coupon or in this case a mobile web site, one simple click from your phone can bring your customers to your site outside of the office or home computer. The ability to measure and track these scans and hits to your mobile web site is one way you as a business owner can get more information to better position your product or service.
Mobile web sites and QR codes are the tip of what could be the driving force in your new year’s marketing plan.
