We hear people talking about SEO on a daily basis. What is it? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and by properly optimizing and marketing your website, you will rank higher on the list on Google & other search engines, which will aid in driving more traffic to your website. Google is the most used search engine on the internet & it has recently changed how it goes about ranking websites when a search is conducted on Google. Google makes it’s money by people paying them to rank their website higher on the search list, but you can put in some elbow grease & rank high on Google’s list without paying $ for it by implementing “Organic SEO” – this is SEO that you “grow” yourself through Expert Content, Social Media / Blogging, Print Marketing and more.
Google has started sifting through a lot of the garbage SEO on the internet, for example when you click on a link that shows up on a search engine, and it takes you to a web page that is covered with random text (metadata and keywords) that includes what you were “searching” for. This is not any help & often leads to random computer viruses and other things you don’t want popping up on your computer. Google now focuses on your actual usable content, credibility from other websites & social networks that recommend your website to others. Basically Google will rank you higher in the search engine ranks for being “The Expert” in what your website is promoting.
Facebook & Twitter are very powerful tools to use to help market your website. Google searches social media sites on a regular basis, & the more people that post links to your website on these sites will help your website gain credibility as “The Expert” that you want it to be. Keeping your social media posts interesting & consistent will help keep people interested in what you recommend online as well (like your website that you are marketing). Blog sites such as WordPress, Blogger, Blogspot, etc. are constantly searched by Google as well, which makes running a creditable blog a powerful tool to help promote your website in the search engine rankings as well.
Print Marketing is an excellent way to promote your website. Using effective branding & visual advertisements that entice people to go to your website helps your ranking go up. You can accomplish this with Microsoft TAG, QR Codes, NFC (Near Field Communications), and the old fashioned method of typing in the actual web address. Google recognizes this traffic to your website, and you can track your marketing efforts by installing Google Analytics on your website to adjust your marketing efforts.
By utilizing all these methods, you can save your hard-earned money & still rank high on the search engines. The internet is always evolving & the old SEO methods will just rank your site lower as Google rules out if your site is portrayed as “The Expert”.
