2011 is our third year for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.  About 98% of the paper we now offer is FSC certified! Sustainable Business Practices at Work

In keeping with our commitment to sustainable business practices, AlphaGraphics Portland participated in a 5 week discussion course on "Sustainable Systems at Work," developed by Portland's Northwest Earth Institute. The purpose of the course is to create a framework to help employees engage in the sustainability discussion in the workplace.  Becoming FSC certified is just one of the steps AlphaGraphics Portland has already taken.  Read more in our News archive.

Printing just got fun again!

We just got this terrific oversized postcard from the printing association, ChoosePrint.org. Clearly, I am biased since I own a print shop, but the message is compelling:

Direct mail is still a key channel for reaching consumers and influencing their purchase decisions.

• Print gets read:  52.4% of US consumers say they read the direct mail they receive from retailers.

• Print is preferred:  Direct mail is consumers' preferred channel for receiving brand communications, and this preference extends to the 18-to-34-year-old demographic.

• Print provides a high ROI:  In 2010 an investment of $1 in direct marketing advertising expenditures returned, on average, $12.57 in sales.  This high return on investment held up across all   industries.

• Print raises funds:  79% of total non-profit gifts come through direct mail - only 10% comes online. 
  

Great Messaging. But I think digital/social media is important, too.  So we now offer a combination of print AND digital media services and we will help you project manage the whole thing.  Digital solutions like QR (mobile) barcodes - those funny black boxes you see in the corners of direct mail, catalogs,on signage and account statements.  When combined with print, your message becomes interactive with your smartphone.  These can be custom generated and hosted for a very reasonable cost.  You can then link to facebook or a website.
