PRINT MEETS MOBILE WITH QR CODES 

QR CODES ARE HERE AT ALPHAGRAPHICS PORTLAND!

A QR Code is simply a mobile barcode used from a phone camera.  "QR" stands for "Quick Response" and indeed, it is fast.  The user simply points their camera at the square code and it takes you directly to a website.

For example, a retailer could put a QR code on a store window.  One day you're out window shopping, you see a shirt you love, point your camera at it and land on the retailer's website to immediately order the shirt!  Instant gratification!  Or maybe you are registering runners at a 5K race event.  A QR code on the registration materials could take a participant to web pages offering more information on the charity, maps, first aid tips - saving everyone time and making your event run even smoother. Brochures, business cards, advertisements, signage, window clings - just about anything can benefit from the addition of a QR code.

QR codes are very popular in Asia and Europe and are just beginning to catch on in the U.S.  Most of the new "smart phones" like the Droid or iPhone already come with a QR code reader (the computer program that makes it work with a camera).  But if your phone is an older model, no worries.  You can easily download a reader and still be ahead of the curve.

Sustainable Business Practices at Work

In keeping with our commitment to sustainable business practices, AlphaGraphics Portland participated in a 5 week discussion course on "Sustainable Systems at Work," developed by Portland's Northwest Earth Institute. The purpose of the course is to create a framework to help employees engage in the sustainability discussion in the workplace.  Becoming FSC certified is just one of the steps AlphaGraphics Portland has already taken.  Read more in our News section.
