TRIM SIZE
Trim size is a very important detail for making your book look the way you want it to. The standard trim size is 5.5 by 8.5 inches, which is great for novels and memoirs. If it is longer, you may want to go with a larger trim size, so it doesn’t look too thick or intimidating.
MARGINS
Margin spacing and typography are extremely important to make sure your writing is as legible as possible. If your margins are out of line, the words will look off-center and make it difficult to read. If you use the wrong kind of typeface, it will be distracting and hard to read. Usually, you’ll want to stick with San Serif typefaces for cookbooks, art books, and a few other genres, while Serif typefaces are best for more traditional storybooks.
