The Problem
If you've ever been to the Birch Aquarium, you've seen their outdoor Tide Pool Plaza. This gorgeous cliffside spectacle has hands-on exhibits and amazing creatures, not to mention an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. The walls surrounding the Tide Pool Plaza are made of stucco to endure the heat of the summer, ocean breezes, and even harsh storms. In the past, the Birch Aquarium has hung vinyl posters on these walls, only to have them damage the walls and fade over time.

signage experts at AlphaGraphics San Diego was tasked with the responsibility of coming up with a solution for these stucco walls at the Birch Aquarium after they remained bare for more than five years. We wanted to upgrade the aquarium's outdoor visitor experience while the interior was closed during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
