Large Format Product Profile

Large Format printing doesn’t always mean printing something large, like banners, posters, wall & vehicle graphics.  While it prints on large substrates, ranging from 2 to 15 feet, sometimes the finished result is much smaller. Our in-house flat-bed/large format printer, the efi H1625 LED can offer more printing options and sizes to you! It can print on a variety of substrates ranging from foam core, vinyl, PVC, dibond, and others. Check out our post on Large Format Printing on our AlphaGraphics South Charlotte Blog to learn more about how versatile these printers can be for your next project.

Marvin Ridge High School

We recently worked on a fun project with Marvin Ridge High School Athletic Director, Tom Jamerson, on a concept for their Wall of Fame.  The Wall of Fame honors their student athletes who have achieved All-State or All-American status.  Tom’s vision was simple: he wanted something that looked clean, stood out, but most importantly, would hold up over time.  Our design team worked with Tom to create a neat and organized look that tied in the school colors. Next order of business was to find a substrate that would hold up over time.  Previously, they had used clear stickers that had started to peel off on the corners.  Due to the heavy foot traffic in the hall where the Wall of Fame is, we wanted to make sure that the signs would be sturdy enough to stay on the wall and not get bent or damaged.  We elected to go with a 6mm PVC, which is a thick and tough substrate, and added a matte laminate over top to add another layer of protection. The sheets of PVC were then router cut into 7” x 7” squares and we adhered a 3M double-sided adhesive to ensure they would stay on the wall.  Once all the squares were cut, we organized them by year, sport, and alphabetically by last name and created a layout template of how they would lay out on the wall.  The final step was the installation, where all 314 squares were securely added to the wall.  The final product turned out great.  It was nice to see some of the student-athletes, parents & coaches walk by the wall during the installation and reminisce about some of the past Marvin Ridge players & teams.  Another reminder why we do what we do: to provide our customers with the best products & customer service each and every time!
