Business Growth & Marketing Ideas

It’s that tiny black square that looks like there are many random patterns inside. One of the most famous examples was the Coinbase commercial that aired during the 2022 Superbowl. For one minute, the entire ad consisted of a black screen and a floating QR code:

Millions of viewers pulled out their smartphones and scanned the QR code on their t.v. set. It took them to the Coinbase website, where they had to provide their name and email address in exchange for $15 worth of free cryptocurrency.
The promotion was a massive success—so much so that the Coinbase website crashed due to a large number of visitors in a short period.
Fast forward a decade or so, and smartphone manufacturers made their cameras able to view and read QR codes. Marketers then picked up the ball and ran with it. Considering how almost everyone in the U.S. has a smartphone, it became the perfect advertising medium for marketers.
When a person scans a QR code with their cell phone, one of several things can happen:
QR codes are effective marketing tools and allow marketers to keep the conversation going and provide the end-user with more information. Read on to discover seven unique ideas to drive new leads with a QR code.
Businesses and organizations alike are adding QR codes to their promotional t-shirts and other clothing items. This allows anyone looking at it to instantly learn more—instead of having to remember or jot down the URL of the website printed on the back of the shirt.
Believe it or not, countless people still use business cards in this day and age. However, the more successful ones add a small QR code on the front or back of their card. This will allow the recipient to be taken to a landing page, such as a sales page or contact form.
Art galleries and museums can benefit significantly from QR codes. For example, consider adding a QR code instead of adding a small card with printed text around an art display. This will help prevent people from bunching up and allow them to view the information about the art piece on their smartphones.
Many brick-and-mortar stores are adding QR codes to popup banner displays. This allows them to either capture the contact info of the people who walk into their stores or provide them with more information on a specific promotion. For example, Bed Bath and Beyond have QR codes on their displays—this allows in-store visitors to scan it and get a free 20% off coupon code for providing their email address.
Consider how many people view an outdoor banner displayed at an event or local gathering. Adding a large-sized QR code can benefit the companies who advertise on these banners—or help people with wayfinding. For example, many outdoor venues will have QR codes that direct the smartphone user to a map that will tell them where they are and where they need to go (e.g., ticket office).
Consider adding a QR code to your tradeshow materials. It will allow your booth visitors to learn more about whatever product or service you’re displaying and enable you to capture their personal information for your sales department to contact later.
You can use a QR code as a marketing tool on LinkedIn or Facebook. Simply upload the QR code, allowing anyone looking at your profile to scan the code with their cell phone. This helps position you as a forward thinker who knows how to take advantage of modern technology.
