FACTORS WHICH DETERMINE THE COST OF BUSINESS CARD PRINTING

  • How many cards do you need? Typical price breaks are 250, 500 and 1000 but we can do fewer.
  • When do you need your business cards printed by? In a few hours? Or in a day or two?
  • Need cards for just 1 person or for a few people?
  • What type of paper? Some finishes are gloss, semi-gloss and dull. How heavy a paper?
  • How many colors will your design be? Need to match a Pantone* color?
  • Are you printing on one or both sides?
  • Does the design of your business card bleed?*
  • Do you have a design or do you need us to lay one out?

BUSINESS CARDS PRINTING

You can supply your own design, or we can design your business cards for you. Graphic design services are billed in 15 minute increments, so if you know what you want and don't need to see lots of variations to decide on the graphics for your business cards, we can quickly design your business cards and keep your cost down.

WHAT SHOULD GO ON MY BUSINESS CARDS?

What information do you want on your business cards? You should include your name (or your employees' names), addresses, phone and email at minimum. Think about whether you want fax, your website, twitter handle, facebook fan page URL, or a QR code.

BUSINESS CARD LOGO DESIGN

Already have a logo design? Or do you need to design a logo? If you have one already, it is best to supply us with a digital file in high resolution. A .pdf or vector format (.eps or .ai) logo file produces a professional-looking logo on your printed business cards. Logos that are copied from website pages are low resolution and will print with a pixelated look in most cases. If you need help with a logo you have in low res, we will still be able to help you, but we may need to spend some design time to re-create your logo. If you have questions, we're happy to look at your files and help.

TYPES OF BUSINESS CARDS

Lots of business cards are simple, with white backgrounds, a logo and contact information in one color of ink. If your business is straightforward, like an attorney's office, medical practice, trade service or other more traditional business, this look might be the right image for you.

SIMPLE BUSINESS CARD DESIGN

Sometimes, a simple look is made more elegant by use of a heavier paper. At AlphaGraphics, we don't have template designs like some online printers; we specialize in custom work. But that doesn't mean it's harder to get great-looking business cards fast. It does mean, however, that you won't have the same design as several other people you exchange business cards with.

COLOR DIGITAL PRINTING OF YOUR BUSINESS CARDS

Most businesses today want to stand out--color is the perfect way.Digital printing produces high-quality printing on normal, card-weight paper. Digital output allows printing of small quantities of cards that would not have been possible to produce back in the days of offset-only. Most people can't tell a digitally printed business card from one run on a press. If this sounds confusing, just know that you can order cards in small quantities with no discernible compromise. The main limitation with digital printing is pantone color matching of spot colors is not practical. If you need to color match a spot color from print run to print run and from employee to employee, the way to achieve this is by running your cards on our offset press. If you are not concerned with this level of color matching, then you would likely be happy with digital printing.

OFFSET PRINTING YOUR BUSINESS CARDS

With large quantities of cards for many employees or where color matching is important, offset printing is the way to go. This method allows us to use the specific inks for spot color/pantone color matching, and you are assured of consistency. Offset also allows for a wider choice of paper. Don't worry; we can advise you on what kind of printing is best for your business cards, given your criteria.

CHOICE OF PAPER STOCK

The paper you choose for your cards will have a major impact on the perceived quality of your cards. Heavier papers are typically perceived as being more expensive and higher quality. We can source any paper, but to keep it simple, we have a choice of two house weights: 80# or 100# cover stocks. And we have choices of three house finishes: dull finish, semi-gloss (or silk) finish, and gloss finish. If there is a type of paper you want to use, however, we can source anything you like.
