AGKC Wins Print Industry Awards!

AlphaGraphics Kansas City is the recipient of 6 awards from the 2018 Printing & Imaging Association of Mid-America's Graphex Awards!

On April 26th, the AlphaGraphics KC team attended the Willie Wonka themed Print Industry Awards Gala that was held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. PIA Mid-America hosts an annual gala to celebrate the industry’s top professional's transformation of ink and paper into incredible forms of printed communication.  The AlphaGraphics team enjoyed an evening of networking and comradery with other print companies and won 5 Best of Category Awards and one Award of Excellence. With over 300 award categories, AGKC placed in 5 different categories. Two of which were in the same category, a GraphEx Awards first!  Read about our award-winning print projects below! Our first two winning entries are installations done for The Art in the Loop Foundation's Street Car Art Crawl, “Totemic” and “Wait Here”. They were produced on clear vinyl and installed on the glass of the Kansas City Streetcar shelters. Streetcar riders were invited to visit with the artists about their installations at each of the stops. These installations received a Best of Category Award for Wide Format Printing Exterior Scapes & a Best of Category Award for Wide Format Printing Specialty Installation. Our next Best of Category Award winner is the Gatorade books that we produced for VML. These books were digitally printed and Smyth Sewn with an exposed spine with the final covers tipped on to the front and back.  These beautiful books were created as a gift from VML to Gatorade. The books won Best of Category in Binding & Finishing Techniques.

This map brochure that won an award for Broadside Printing was created for Kansas City’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. The brochure was printed on a 22” x 15” sheet, folded in half and then right angle accordion folded 7 TIMES to a finished size of 3.3” x 7.6”!

SHPE's brochure map that won an award in the category of broadside printing.   WNB Architects WNB Architects wanted a holiday card that stood out to send to their clients.  The final version received an Award of Excellence in the category of Greeting Cards. These tri-folded holiday cards use Classic Crest Epic Black to create a multidimensional effect.   The paper was printed with white toner, then foil stamped and laser cut before being scored and folded for mailing.  Recipients could use tabs at the top and bottom to create a display that reflected the light off the foil.WNB Architects' tri-folded Holiday Cards that are foil stamped, laser cut, and printed on black paper with white toner. Oakhill Day School

Our final piece is a mural installation produced for Oakhill Day School, a private school in Gladstone, that covered over 226 square feet! Oakhill renovated a new upper school and wanted a way to showcase their mission and students in the entry to the building.  This installation won an award for Wide Format Interior Scapes. It was produced on a 3M Removable Matte Wall Film and installed by our 3M Certified Installer, Ross Sanders.
