FAQ's of AlphaGraphics South Charlotte

Answers to your printing questions!

How do I go about getting an estimate? At AlphaGraphics South Charlotte, almost every project we produce for our customers is a custom job.  Because each project is slightly different than the next, there is no standard pricing. What information do I need for an estimate? Whether you call or stop by, our Account Consultants or Customer Service Representative will first collect general information about your project (quantity; color vs. black & white; paper size & finish; when you need it by, etc.).  The more information you provide us with allows for a more accurate estimate (this includes sending the artwork if you have it). You can also request a quote on our website. Depending on the size of the potential project, we always try to get an estimate to you as quickly as possible. Primarily, your estimate will be delivered to you through the email provided to us. If you decide to move forward with the project, you can click the “Accept” button in the email, which will alert your Account Consultant that you are ready to proceed with the project. Do you charge for customer consultations? We offer free consultations for all customers, current or new.  During the consultation, you will work closely with one of our account consultants.  They will listen to the service or services you wish to have completed and ask questions to help point you in the right direction to meet your deadlines and budget. They will also walk you through the production process, so you have a full understanding of what it will take to make sure your project is completed on time and done to your satisfaction! What is the turnaround time for completing my project? Our typical turnaround time is approximately 3-5 business days upon the final proof approval. During the production process, we will produce an electronic or hard copy proof for you to approve.  Once you’ve approved that proof, the full quantity of the project is printed. After it is printed it is inspected for quality and packaged. For customers needing their projects completed on a same day or next day turnaround, a rush charge may apply. Do you provide graphic design services? Yes, we offer graphic design!  From concept to completion, our designers can help work on creating logos, layout for posters or signs, vehicle graphics, booklets and more.  The graphic design fees are charged by the hour and an estimate of design time for your project is included in the estimate. Note: The minimum is 1 hour for design services.  How should I send my files?  There is a place to send a file of what you want printed in the top corner of the website.  When you click on the “SEND A FILE” button, you will then fill out your contact information and upload your files directly to us. We prefer customers send their files in PDF format, as they work best with the software that we use. Abode files are also good to send. What software programs do you use? We use Adobe Creative Cloud. More specifically, the designers use InDesign and Illustrator to design and prepare files to be printed. What is a bleed? You may be asked if your project bleeds.  If a color bleeds, it means that the color will run off the the printed area. This leaves no white margin.  If your project does not have bleed, there is no color or a white border around the edge of the artwork.
