16 Ways to Relax, Refresh, and Recharge

The end of the year is officially here and it’s time to unwind. Being proactive about taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being will benefit you and your business in the long run. It’s time to relax, refresh, and recharge!

Manage the Hectic Holiday Season

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be overwhelming and exhausting. Use these tips to manage stress on the job and at home during this busy time of year.

  • Take things one day, one task at a time. Chip away at your tasks and goals one by one to feel less overwhelmed. Make a list of tasks in order of most to least important, focus on one task at a time, and check off your to-do’s until they’re all complete!

  • Accept the imperfections and mistakes that may come your way. During this busy season, there’s bound to be something that goes wrong or not the way you envisioned. Learn to be okay with things that don’t always go as planned. Being flexible gives more wiggle room for adapting to new circumstances.

  • Don’t lose sight of what matters. Don’t get caught up in the stress of what to give your loved ones for the holidays. Remember that the holiday season is about spreading love, happiness, and cheer.

  • Treat everyone with kindness. You never know if someone is having a bad day or struggling around the holidays. Sometimes a smile or a little compliment can go a long way. Spread some positivity and cheer when interacting with customers, vendors, and employees.

  • Make a list of things you’re grateful for. Verbalizing your gratitude will remind you to be appreciative of what you have and how far you’ve come.

Relaxing and Unplugging Looks Like….

  • Taking a spa day. From a spa massage, facial, and steam room session, to something as simple as soaking in your bathroom tub, practicing self-care this way can make you feel refreshed and brand new.

  • Going on a vacation. Whether it’s a staycation or your favorite winter destination, take some time to get away from your normal space and routine!

  • Reading a book. Cozy up in a blanket with tea or cocoa and immerse yourself in your favorite novel. Try reading a fiction novel for an escape or a professional development book to learn a new skill.

  • Going for a stroll. Nature can be the best medicine! Take a hike or walk in the park to clear your head and enjoy some fresh air. For an added benefit, leave your phone at home to fully immerse yourself in nature.

  • Meditating. Breathwork and yoga are great tools to help you reel your thoughts back in and return to a calm state of mind. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, take time to focus on the present moment.

  • Journaling. Writing words out on paper can help you organize your thoughts and feelings. Reflect on what you accomplished this year, or jot down new goals you want to accomplish in the year to come. This will give you a clearer understanding of what you hope to achieve.

Taking Care of Yourself Has Its Benefits!

Self-care is the key to both personal and professional success! Here are a few things you will gain from taking time to treat yourself.

  • Boosts physical well-being. Getting more sleep and eating nutritious, whole foods help you feel better physically and energize you for a busy day — and year — ahead.

  • Improves mood and emotional well-being. Self-care can eliminate feelings of depression or anxiety. The better your mood, the lower your stress levels.

  • Improves focus. Being in a clearer headspace allows you to focus on everything from the minute details to the bigger picture of your business and personal goals.

  • Increases self-confidence. Feeling good mentally and physically can motivate you to feel more confident in the work you’re doing and the effort you’re putting in. It’ll make you feel like you can go above and beyond to make a breakthrough in your business goals.

  • Helps everyone around you. Your environment can be a reflection of the place you’re in personally. When you’re happy, you have more energy to fill other people's cups.

Taking care of your well-being doesn’t always have to be big and elaborate. Anything you do for yourself that makes you feel better or cared for can be considered self-care. This year, make a conscious effort to do things that will preserve or improve your mental or physical health.
