Insalling a vinyl graphic on your window is easier than you think!

Follow these simple steps and you'll have a professional-looking result in no time!

Lets start by gathering your materials.

Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need within arm’s reach. Having the right tools ready will make the process smooth and efficient. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Masking tape – To hold your vinyl in place while positioning.
• A squeegee – To ensure a smooth, bubble-free application.
• A knife or scissors – To trim excess material if needed.
• Rubbing alcohol – To clean the glass surface thoroughly.
• Paper towels or a lint-free cloth – To wipe the glass dry.
• A tape measure – To ensure accurate placement.
• A level – To confirm straight alignment.
• Your vinyl graphic – Need one? Call us!

Now prepare the window.

The key to a flawless vinyl application starts with a clean surface. Spray a generous amount of rubbing alcohol onto the window and wipe it down using a clean cloth or paper towel. Be sure to remove any dust, dirt, or grease, as even the smallest particles can cause bumps or prevent proper adhesion. Let the surface dry completely before proceeding.

For extra caution, you can go over the window with a second cleaning pass using fresh paper towels. This ensures no streaks or debris remain.

Next, use tape to hold the graphic.

Before committing to the final placement, temporarily secure the vinyl graphic with masking tape. Apply a strip along the top edge to act as a temporary hinge while you adjust the positioning.

Hold back and take a step away to check the alignment. Use a level to ensure the graphic is perfectly straight. If needed, reposition and retape until it looks just right. Taking the time now will save you from misalignment headaches later!

Time to make a hinge.

To make the application easier, create a hinge using another strip of tape. Apply this tape across the middle of the graphic, perpendicular to the long edge. This hinge allows you to work in sections, making the installation more controlled and reducing the chances of bubbles and misalignment.

Separate the backing paper.

Peel back one side of the vinyl, carefully separating it from the backing paper. Cut the backing off to expose the adhesive on one side. 

Apply the first half.

Now comes the fun part! Pull the vinyl taut so that it’s slightly elevated above the window. Using a squeegee, begin applying the vinyl from the center hinge outward, pressing firmly in smooth, even strokes.

Work slowly and methodically to prevent bubbles. If you do encounter air pockets, lift the vinyl slightly and reapply pressure with the squeegee.

On to the next half.

Once the first side is secure, remove the tape hinge. Peel back the remaining backing paper from the second half of the vinyl and repeat the squeegee process. Again, work from the center outward, ensuring an even, smooth application.

Last but not least.

You’re almost done! Slowly and carefully remove the transfer tape from the vinyl graphic. Do this at a shallow angle to prevent peeling up the design.

Inspect the graphic for any air bubbles or creases. If you spot any, use the tip of a knife or pin to make a tiny hole and gently press the air out with the squeegee. For minor misalignments, carefully peel back the affected area and reposition it.

Your vinyl graphic is now installed!
