Marketing Mojo: Connecting your Brand Image

I was at a networking event not too long ago and the featured speaker was Starla West, an image coach based here in Indianapolis. She focuses on helping individuals and companies refine their appearance and communication skills so that they effectively engage with their target audience. She spoke about how important it is to not have any disconnect in your personal image and your brand. You wouldn't appear at an interview or presentation in ripped jeans and a baggy t-shirt, because it would conflict with the image you are trying to create. In a way this is a personal take on brand consistency. Just as your clothes and personal style can convey a certain message to others, your brand image does the same for your business. Logos, business cards, stationary and other print items work together to clothe your brand in a cohesive image, whether it is professional or fun.  If your brand materials are poor quality or full of inconsistencies and errors it creates a disconnect for the client.  Brand consistency can be hard to achieve especially if you have an evolving company (and we all hope that we are growing and changing!) but it is a crucial part of your marketing.
