Brochure and Booklet printing FAQs

Which are the most common sizes for booklets and brochures?

The most popular brochure and booklet size by far is a standard 8.5" x 11' letter size sheet, in either a portrait or landscape orientation. These are then either folded in half to create a bifold (most common is a 5.5" wide x 8.5" size.), or folded in on thirds to create a trifold brochure. The common size of a trifold brochure when folded is 3.625" wide x 8.5" tall. If you need a template for this, please call or email us and we will be happy to send you a PDF file template top follow for proper folds. Another popular format are rack cards. While technically not a brochure or a booklet, rack cards are generally 4" wide x 9" tall or 3.5" wide x 8.5" tall and print on two sides of card stock in full color. High gloss is a popular finishing option on rack cards. You see lots of rack cards in hotel lobbies.

What’s the best alternative in terms of brochure and booklet binding?

Brochures can be a single page, print one or two sides or a complex folded and die cut and assembled piece with a hinged binding. We have all sorts of samples if you are at a loss, just stop in and take a look and get inspired. Boolets are typically saddle stitched (think staples on the folded edge of multiple sheets like a smaller magazine), or perfect bound like a paper back book. We also offer plasticoil binding, GBC comb binding, twin loop wire "O" binding and hard back binding. Each binding method has uses that are more appropriate and each has a cost advantage or disadvantage over others, so don't feel confused, let us walk you through all your options. While most of the technical terms for printing and binding can seem awkward and confusing, not to worry, the pros at AlphaGraphics on Camelback have your back.
